International Biodiversity celebrated Day at GNDU
Amritsar, June 14: Department of Life Long Learning, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar in collaboration with Punjab Biodiversity Board celebrated International Biodiversity Day. The program included slogan writing competition on the theme “Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health”. The event was sponsored by National Biodiversity Authority, Govt. of India.
Prof. Saroj Arora, Co-ordinator of the program highlighted the importance of biodiversity, need for its conservation and role of students in such conservational programmes. Students from the Dept. of Life Long Learning also shared their valuable views on the role of students in biodiversity conservation. Dr. Rajinder Kaur and Dr. Jatinder Kaur (Associate professors, Dept. of Botanical and Environmental Sciences) judged the entries for a slogan writing competition and winners of slogan writing competition were given cash prizes. They also shared their views on Biodiversity and the role of people in biodiversity conservation.
A documentary on importance of plants in our culture was also shown and students were made aware about i-Haryali app launched by Punjab Government. The students were sensitized to use and share this app.
Mrs Tejpal Kaur, Project assistance co-ordinated and thanked the guests and students. All the faculty members of the Department of Life Long Learning were present.
