Workshop on ‘Developing E-Content under Centre of Pre-Service Teacher Education organized at GNDU

Amritsar, May 06: A two weeks workshop on ‘Developing E-Content under Centre of Pre-Service Teacher Education, School of Education, under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) scheme, MHRD was concluded with the presentation of the work done prepared during 14 days workshop by the participants in the form of content.

 Dr. Deepa Sikand Kauts, Associate Professor, Department of Education, GNDU, Amritsar, while sharing the report of the workshop specified that the participants were exposed to different software and mobile phones apps like street view, google sites, timeline, kahoot, script writing, storyboard, audacity, open shot, free plane, canvas, stop motion, scratch, screen satisfy, du recorder, or, presentation tube,moodle,h5p,easel.ly, sigil. Etc.for the development of e-content.

In these two weeks, experts gave theoretical understanding and developed technical competency to develop course material for MOOC and MOODLE through e-resources and various internet tools.In addition to that, 7-9 min videos were prepared by each of the subject group of participants with the support of experts from CIET, NCERT AND NIEPA.Participants also learnt online and offline ways of developing e-content.

The valedictory session was chaired by Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof.Jaspal Singh Sandhu, who  expressed his  happiness over the work produced by the participants during the workshop and shared his experiences with respect to digital e-resources and the development of policies regarding the development of MOOC courses during his tenure as secretary, UGC.  Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu emphasized that about e-content is  the need of  the time as resources are depleting and learning needs to be individualised.

In the present scenario, there is a Need to Create, Develop and Use E-content for effective delivery of teaching-learning mechanisms

Prof. (Dr) Amit Kauts, Project coordinator, School of Education where he highlighted the basic objective of PMMMNMTT scheme of MHRD is to promote Good Education through Good Teachers (Achhishiksha-Achheshikshak).He opined that developing competencies among the learner will go a long way in bringing out the change in the mindset of peoples .These kind of tools are required for developing capacities and competence to handle hardware and software for developing digitized e-content for a wider dissemination of knowledge.

There were a total of 36 participants from various universities and colleges across the country and from constituent colleges of the university. Among others, Dr. Mohan Deputy director,  HRDC and Dr.Navdeepkaur, assistant professor, Department of Education,   GNDU,  Amritsar were there to appreciate the work of the participants.
