H-index of the University raised from 56 to 100
One-Week Short Term Course on Research Methodology was inaugurated at GNDU
Amritsar, September 17, 2019: A One-Week Short Term Course on Research Methodology was inaugurated at the new building of the UGC- Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 50 University and College teachers including budding Research Scholars pertaining to a multiplicity of academic disciplines from Himachal Pradesh ,Madhya Pradesh,Haryana,Kerala, Punjab and other far-flung states of the country are participating in it.
Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Dr. Adarsh Pal Vig, Director, HRDC, GNDU welcomed the Chief Guest. Dr. Balwinder Singh, the Coordinator of the Course presented a brief overview of the Course. He emphasized that there is a huge need of organizing such ‘Hands On’ Courses on regular basis, as such type of training programs are very essential for the budding researchers. Dr. Balwinder also thanked the Vice Chancellor, for establishing Centre for Data Analytics and Research (CEDAR) and hence promoting infrastructure for research.
Speaking on the occasion worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Jaspal Sandhu stressed the need of incremental workshops at various levels. He also highlighted the need of ethics in research and asserted that formal sessions need to be conducted on the same. The Vice Chancellor assured that soon HRDC Building would become a ‘One Stop Solution for Researchers’ offering not only the academic excellence but also the Guest House facility. He also asserted that the conduct of such Courses has helped the research in the University to grow exponentially, as the h-index of the University raised from 56 to 100.
All the participants showed their satisfaction while giving their formal feedback in the valedictory session. The participants appreciated the content, delivery and presentation of all the topics covered during the Short Term Course. The participants were contented with the hospitality aspect of the event. The certificates to all the participants were presented by the honorable Vice Chancellor, Director HRDC and Course Coordinators. Dr. Harsandaldeep Kaur, Deputy Coordinator of the course aided the conduct of the valedictory session. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Aparna Bhatia, the Deputy Coordinator of the Short Term Course.
